After everyone was ready they all went outside.

"Ok so how are we gonna do this?" (Dong Wan)

"We should split up into groups, it’ll go more quickly." (Minu)

"But there’s an odd number." (Dong Wan)

"You can go alone Dong Wan. I’ll go with Rosemarie and Jun Jin can go with Kammi." (Minu)

"Why do I have to go alone?" (Dong Wan)

"Stop complaining. You always want to be alone, now here’s your chance. Let’s go," Minu said and walked over to Rosemarie. He gave her a big smile. She looked away but followed him, even though she really was in no rush for them to be alone together.

Jun Jin looked at Kammi, "Well, let’s go this way I guess."

"Ok," she said softly and walked away beside him.

Dong Wan sighed and went in the other direction by himself. After a few seconds he realized it wasn’t so bad and he was glad to be alone.

Once they were far enough away, Minu stopped dead in his tracks. Rosemarie stopped a few steps in front of him when she realized he was no longer beside her. "What’s wrong?" She asked. It had taken a lot, she found she was very shy in front of him since he had kissed her.

"I’m sorry," Minu said sadly lowering his eyes.

"What?" Rosemarie asked, finding his apology rather confusing.

"I’m sorry I made you kiss me. I shouldn’t have been so rough with you, especially since I hardly know you." (Minu)

Rosemarie felt the blood rush to her cheeks, "Oh, that… Um, don’t worry about it," she said, unsure of how to respond to him.

"I can’t not worry about it. I wanted to make a good impression, and now I just screwed everything up." (Minu)

Rosemarie was silent, now she really did not know what to say. She couldn’t tell if Minu liked her, or if it was her wishful thinking and he was just overly friendly.

Kammi studied Jun Jin out of the corner of her eye as they walked down the path.

As dark as it was, she could still see him well enough to decide that he was pretty cute himself. Neither of them had said anything since they had separated from Minu, Dong Wan, and Rosemarie. They just could not find the words.

"Ah!" Kammi cried out as she tripped over a rock.

Jun Jin’s hands shot out and quickly caught her before she fell, "Are you ok?"

Kammi looked into his eyes, his arms were wrapped around her, "Uh, I, I’m fine,"

Kammi laughed nervously and slid away from Jun Jin. "I just didn’t see that rock and I tripped, but I’m alright."

"Oh," Jun Jin said and they started back down the path.

"You know, maybe we should call her. She might answer." (Kammi)

"Ok, let’s try it then. Jamie!" Jun Jin yelled.

"Jamie!" (Kammi)

"Jamie!" (Jun Jin)

"Ja-" (Kammi)

"Shh, listen," Jun Jin said. He and Kammi turned to face the woods.

"What is it?" Kammi whispered as she and Jun Jin watched. They heard a sound in the bushes where Jun Jin had pointed his flashlight.

"Jamie? Is that you?" Jun Jin asked. He moved the flashlight and saw 2 glowing eyes looking back at him. "What is THAT?" Jun Jin asked taking a step backward.

"It’s a monster! Run!" (Kammi)

"WHAT?!" Jun Jin cried as Kammi started running away. "Kammi! Wait! Stop!" He shouted chasing after her. He grabbed her arm and after a few seconds Kammi listened and stopped running. Their eyes met and they stared at each other. Jun Jin could no longer help himself and burst out laughing. Kammi watched him, thinking he had lost his mind as he laughed so hard he was gasping for air.

"Why are you laughing? It’s not funny!" Kammi said getting angry.

"Oh, I, I’m sorry," Jun Jin said and quickly tired to stop his laughter. "Are you alright?"

"No, it’s scary out here, and I’m getting cold too." (Kammi)

"There’s nothing to be scared of. That was probably just a raccoon or something," Jun Jin said trying to reassure her. Kammi continued to frown as she looked over into the woods. Jun Jin had finally stopped laughing, he could see Kammi was upset. He took a few steps toward her as he took off his jacket. "Here," he said.

Kammi turned around and looked at him, he was holding his jacket out to her, "What?"

"You said you were cold, so here, wear this." (Jun Jin)

Kammi shyly let Jun Jin help her put the jacket on, "Thank you."

"You’re welcome. Are you still scared?" (Jun Jin)

"A little." (Kammi)

"Well don’t be. I’ll protect you." (Jun Jin)

Kammi giggled at the thought of Jun Jin protecting her. All she could think of was him running from the bat screaming.

Jun Jin started to smile again, "Why are you laughing?"

"It’s nothing, let’s keep looking for Jamie." (Kammi)

"Ok," Jun Jin said and he and Kammi continued on their way.

"Are you alright? You look like something’s bothering you," Minu said to Rosemarie after a long period of silence. He wondered if Rosemarie was still so upset with him.

"I’m worried about Jamie, what if something happened to her? She could have gotten attacked by a wild animal, or fallen into one of the lakes and drowned,"

Rosemarie said then got very quiet.

"Well, we haven’t gotten attacked by a wild animal yet, and if she fell in the lake it doesn’t necessarily mean she’d drowned," Minu said trying to comfort her.

"She can’t swim," Rosemarie said softly.

"Oh. Don’t worry, I’m sure she’s fine, you can see water even in the dark," Minu said and put his arm around Rosemarie. He was very surprised when Rosemarie stopped walking and pulled him closer. Minu hugged her, "She’s ok, probably just upset like Kammi said."

Jun Jin froze, Kammi turned and looked at him.

"What’s wrong?" She said quickly walking back over to his side.

"Did you hear that?" Jun Jin whispered.

"Hear what?" Kammi asked nervously.

"That noise." (Jun Jin)

"What did it sound like?" (Kammi)

"I don’t know, it was like nothing I’ve ever heard before." (Jun Jin)

Kammi looked around, "Did it sound like an animal or…"

"No, I’m not sure what it was. It- Hey! Listen! There it is again," Jun Jin whispered loudly.

Kammi took a few steps closer to Jun Jin, "I, I don’t hear anything," she stuttered.

Jun Jin leaned over and pulled her to his side. She gasped, startled by his sudden movement.

"Sh, it’s ok, I’ll protect you," Jun Jin said pressing his cheek to hers. Kammi slightly turned her head so she could see him, he was already looking at her and he had a big smile on his face.

"Jun Jin, did you really hear something?" (Kammi)

"Yes I did. I swear." (Jun Jin)

Kammi turned away and looked back into the woods. She jumped and covered her mouth.

Jun Jin jumped too, "What’s wrong?"

"Did you see that? Jun Jin, oh my god!" Kammi squeaked and grabbed onto him tighter.

"W, what?" He stammered, straining to see in the dark. He had not really heard anything and had only made it up so he could get his arms around her.

"Jun Jin, do something! Aren’t you supposed to be protecting me?!" Kammi cried out.

"There’s nothing there." (Jun Jin)

"You heard it and I just saw it! What do you mean there’s nothing there?!" (Kammi)

Jun Jin grabbed onto Kammi, "Well, what did it look like?"

Kammi bit her cheeks to keep from laughing. She KNEW Jun Jin had been lying.

She could see he was terrified now that he thought something was really out there. "I didn’t see it, just the outline. It was really big and fast! It ran from over there and it’s behind that tree."

"Ok then, let’s get out of here while we still can." (Jun Jin)

"Get out of here? Why? Are you scared? How are you gonna protect me if you’re scared?" (Kammi)

"I’m not scared, but we don’t know what it is." (Jun Jin)

"You weren’t scared a few seconds ago." (Kammi)

"No, well, I’m not now either," Jun Jin said. Jun Jin jumped and started to scream as his cell phone began to ring. Kammi also jumped but started laughing at Jun Jin.

He looked at her, a little surprised, then he answered his cell phone.

"Hello? …..You did? ……That’s great, ok, then we’ll meet you there… Oh? Ok, I’ll call him and tell him. Alright see you soon, bye." Jun Jin said then hung up. "That was Dong Wan, he found Jamie. He’s gonna meet us back at the cabin, and why are you laughing? I thought you were scared."

"I was ‘til I found out there was really nothing out here." (Kammi)

"What?" (Jun Jin)

"Did you really hear a noise?" (Kammi)

"Um… Yeah…" (Jun Jin)

"No you didn’t! I know you just said that so I’d be scared and hold onto you!" (Kammi)

"No!" (Jun Jin)

"Yeah! Cuz when I said I saw something and you thought there really was something you got all scared too!" (Kammi)

"Kammi, I’m hurt. I really did hear something, and I WAS trying to protect you, I just got a little scared. You were scared too…" (Jun Jin)

"Yeah, but… You really did hear something?" (Kammi)

"Yes," Jun Jin said as sincerely as he could, "Didn’t you see it?"

"Um, actually no, I didn’t. I just said I did to see if you’d protect me." (Kammi)

Jun Jin smiled, "Of course I will, come on, let’s get going. We’ve been out here way too long."

"Ok," Kammi agreed.

"I’ll admit, I was a little scared." (Jun Jin)

"Yeah?" (Kammi)

"Yeah, it’s scary out here at night. But we should be ok together, there’s safety in numbers," Jun Jin said.

After he called Minu and told him that Dong Wan had found Jamie, they started walking back in the direction they had come from. They heard a rustling sound over in the brush and Kammi grabbed onto Jun Jin’s arm, "It’s ok, it’s probably just another animal," Jun Jin told her.

"You’re right, I’m sorry," Kammi apologized and let go of him.

"It’s alright, you wanna hold my hand?" (Jun Jin)

"Um, ok," Kammi said and took Jun Jin’s hand, she immediately felt much better.
