Chapter 7____

Almost as soon as Kyo had landed he heard a familiar voice call out his name. He turned toward the person calling him.
"Where have you been all night?" Brian asked, gliding over to him.
"Something came up," Kyo answered.
Brian gave him a concerned glance, "What's wrong?"
Kyo seemed surprised, "Wrong? Nothing is wrong, nothing at all."
Brian didn't believe him. Kyo seemed even more distant and cold than usual, but he decided not to push the issue.
"So, wanna get a drink?" Brian asked.
"I guess," Kyo said. He didn't actually want one, he had only come to the bar because it was loud and would be a distraction but a drink might help.
Before either of them could say anything further a chilling howl echoed from off in the distance. Kyo and Brian looked at each other.
"You know, I think I'll pass on the drink. I'm gonna go check that out," Kyo said and took flight.
Brian was right behind him, "I'll come too. It's been a dull night, maybe things are about to pick up," he joked.
Kyo laughed and the 2 of them soared across the town.
****************

5 of the men joined Tae Hyung in the fight against Dong Wan, while the other 2 quickly took down Yuki. A few bursts of fire knocked her into the wall of a nearby building, she lay slumped against it unconscious. Jamie watched in horror as Dong Wan tried to take on all 6 men, but it was no use. He was barely able to stand and soaked in his own blood.
She opened her mouth to scream but no sound came out. Keiran had suddenly grabbed her, and he had done it so roughly it had taken her breath away. He applied pressure to her forehead with his fingers and everything faded to black.
"I've got her. After you finish killing him-" Keiran was unable to finish his sentence, he dropped to his knees, clawing at his throat.
There was 2 men standing in the shadows, one walked over and picked up Jamie. He turned to the 6 men who had been fighting Dong Wan, they had stopped and were silently watching him. "All of you get away from him. Leave now and never let me see you again or it will cost you your lives."

Dong Wan looked up to see who it was because he just couldn't believe what he had heard. There stood Kyo holding Jamie's limp body, next to him was Brian. At their feet, still writhing and scratching at his face, was Keiran.
"You heard me, get out of here while I'm still feeling generous," Kyo growled.
The 6 men by Dong Wan and the 2 near Yuki looked at each other.
"Who the hell are you?" One of them yelled at Kyo.
Kyo smirked but did not answer.
"Come on!" The guy yelled then he and 2 others charged towards Kyo. All 3 men fell to the ground screaming and writhing. One died almost instantly, the second burst into flames and the 3rd started bleeding profusely from his eyes, ears, nose and mouth.
"Anyone else?" Kyo asked with a smile.
The other 5 men took off in every direction. Kyo released Keiran and he sprang up from the ground gasping for air, his expression wild. Keiran faced him, neither man spoke as they studied each other, Keiran seeming to decide whether to attack him or not. Finally he just took off into the night.
Yuki had woken and limped over to Dong Wan to help him up, the 2 of them stared at Kyo and Brian.

"Is everyone alright?" Kyo finally asked.
Yuki's eyes passed over the 3 bodies between them, she turned a little pale, "Yes.... Thank you," she said weakly.
Dong Wan just stared at Kyo. Yuki nudged him and he finally spoke, "Why did you save us?" Dong Wan asked, wiping the blood out of his eyes.
"I felt like it," Kyo smirked, "What the hell did you do anyway?"
"They were after Jamie," Dong Wan answered, not knowing why he did. "Is she ok?"
"She'll be fine, she's just unconscious, she'll wake up soon enough. Why were they after her?" (Kyo)
"I'm not sure what happened. She was in an alley talking to 2 guys and when I said her name they said something about us being the ones who killed Murnau. The taller guy said he'd let us join him, otherwise we would suffer until our deaths... I'm not completely sure what was going on..." (Dong Wan)
"We need to go somewhere safe. Can you fly?" Kyo asked Dong Wan.
"I think so..." (Dong Wan)
"And you?" Kyo asked Yuki.
She shook her head no, "I'm only a priestess."

"Alright. Dong Wan do you think you can carry either of them?" (Kyo)
"Yeah." (Dong Wan)
"Me," Yuki said. Kyo shot her a look but no one noticed.
Dong Wan looked at Yuki questioningly.
"They scare me," she whispered.
Kyo snickered, "Fine, you take her. Brian, you take Jamie."
"What are you going to do?" Dong Wan asked, he was more than a little pissed off that Kyo was giving the orders.
"Fight off anything that attacks us. Unless you would like to do the fighting?" (Kyo)
"No, you seem to get a kick out of killing people." (Dong Wan)
"Next time I'll just let them kill you then," Kyo said icily.

Brian broke the silence that followed Kyo's last statement, "Um, I think maybe we should get going..."
"Yes, we should. Everyone ready?" Kyo asked, handing Jamie to Brian. She was still unconscious.
"Is she ok?" Yuki asked. "She's been unconscious for quite awhile now."
"She'll be fine, now let's go. Follow Brian and stay close together," Kyo directed and they soon took flight.

Min Woo and Rosemarie had finished eating and were now headed back to the hotel.
"Wow, it's really weird to be able to drink blood in public and not have anyone even give you a second glance," Rosemarie mused.
Min Woo laughed, "A couple more trips here and you'll hardly notice."
"Oh, you mean we'll be coming back?" (Rosemarie)
"Of course! Next time we should bring Jamie and Dong Wan and come visit for like a weekend or something. You know, I'd really like to travel more. Dong Wan doesn't like travelling so I rarely went anywhere cuz I hate being alone. Would you maybe like to travel?" (Min Woo)
"Oh I'd love to! Where do you want to go?" (Rosemarie)
"Well, I'd really like to go to Korea. Our mother was Korean..." (Min Woo)
"What was she like?" Rosemarie asked gently.
Min Woo smiled, "She was very kind and pretty. She was always there whenever I needed her. And no matter what we did she didn't love either Dong Wan or me any less."
Rosemarie giggled, "Aw she sounds like a good mother. What about your father?"
"Well, my father was also very kind but he worked a lot so he was not home very much. I was mostly raised by our mother." (Min Woo)
"And what about... er, nevermind," Rosemarie quickly said. She was going to ask about Dong Wan's father but remembered how Min Woo had changed the subject before.
"What?" (Min Woo)
"Well... I was going to ask about Dong Wan's father but if you don't want to talk about it..." (Rosemarie)
Min Woo sighed, "No, I'll tell you just don't say anything to Dong Wan."
"Ok," Rosemarie said quietly.

Chapter 8_____

"Dong Wan never knew his father. He was a vampire and he... he raped our mother," Min Woo continued his story, Rosemarie gasped. Min Woo went on, "He was hunted down and killed before I was born so I don't even know what he looked like..."
"Oh my god," Rosemarie murmured. "I'm so sorry... No wonder Dong Wan hates vampires..."
"Yeah, he hated my father too. Dong Wan was a troubled young man. For the first 15 years of my life I didn't even know I had an older brother because as soon as my mother started dating my father Dong Wan left and wouldn't talk to her. He finally came back after my father died... Actually, he was killed during another vampire hunt. My mother inherited his fortune and had the castle built that we're now living in. We always used to have lots of parties and gatherings, but after she died Murnau came and things changed." (Min Woo)
They were now approaching the hotel. Out front a man with blue skin, horns and leathery looking wings stood, waving a stack of papers, "You there! Come listen to what I must tell you!" He gestured to Rosemarie and Min Woo. They exchanged glances, Rosemarie shrugged and so they approached him.
"Uh, yes?" Min Woo asked.
The man handed them each a piece of paper, "Tonight a new leader shall be chosen! Join us now and he shall be pleased with you. You can rise to great things serving him."
"Huh? Leader of what?" Min Woo asked, looking at the paper and getting a bad feeling.
"Murnau was the last chosen one, but he failed. Tonight his majesty will choose the next person to inherit his son's power. Also, I have heard the prince will soon reach maturity and so whomever he chooses will get even greater power than Murnau had!" The blue demon said excitedly.
"Wow," Min Woo said, trying to fake being impressed as he studied the paper in his hands. It seemed to work.
"Yes! In five nights at the appointed spot he shall appear to induct us into his army." (Blue demon)
"That sounds great, thank you very much," Min Woo smiled, then said goodbye and he and Rosemarie rushed up to their room.

Rosemarie looked very worried, "Do you think it's true?"
"I, I don't know," Min Woo said, putting his arms around her. "Don't worry about it now. When we get home we'll mention it to Dong Wan and Jamie and see what they think. For now let's just try to enjoy our time here."
**************

"We're almost there," Kyo said gliding a few feet above Brian, Dong Wan, Jamie and Yuki. "We should be safe there for the day, then tomorrow night we can decide what we want to do."
Everyone agreed and they flew on in silence.
Jamie slowly opened her eyes, the air was cold and blowing against her. As she shivered she realized she was in someone's arms; She looked up into the face of a man she had never seen before and began screaming at the top of her lungs. "AHH! Let me go!!!" She kicked and swung her arms.
"Ow! Hey, cut it out!" Brian cried, nearly dropping her.
"Jamie, shut up right now!" Someone commanded, placing a hand over her mouth.
She pulled the hand away and yelled, "Kyo!"
"Sh!" He hissed, "Be quiet, someone might hear."
"What's going on? Where's Dong Wan?" She said suddenly sounding panicked.
"I'm right here," he grumbled.
"Oh my god! Dong Wan!" Jamie reached in the direction his voice was coming from.
"Stop squirming!" Brian struggled to hold onto her.
"I want Dong Wan to hold me," Jamie complained.
"He can't." (Brian)
"Why not?" Jamie demanded, twisting around so she could see Dong Wan. "WHORE!" Jamie screamed, seeing Yuki in his arms. "Dong Wan you bastard! How could you?!"
"Quiet down or-" A huge burst of flames shot up in between them, cutting Kyo off mid-sentence and causing everyone to scatter in different directions.
Jamie and Yuki both screamed. Dong Wan regained his balance in time to see a glittering shard of ice collide with Brian's arm. Brian screamed and started falling down. More shards of ice flew after him, cutting him to shreds as he disappeared from sight.
Upon impact he had dropped Jamie and she was now also sailing toward the earth. Dong Wan watched helplessly, trying to dodge the many things coming toward him as Jamie followed Brian to the ground. Kyo dove after them and disappeared from view as well. There was screams and explosions from below, Dong Wan waited with growing terror in his heart.

Jamie watched as the ground grew closer and closer, she tried with everything in her to fly but it was no use. She closed her eyes and tried to brace herself when something slammed into her, stopping her descent. She felt arms wrap around her and hold her tightly, she opened her eyes to see Kyo. A tear rolled down her cheek, "Kyo..." she whispered. He was not looking at her, all around them blasts of fire and shards of ice went flying by. Kyo was amazingly fast, dodging every single one of them. Bodies spiraled down around them as if it were raining corpses. Another blast of ice shards came toward them from a close range, in the seconds it took Kyo to drop the guy another man appeared right in front of them. He grinned demonically, his hand raised an inch in front of Jamie's face, ready to kill her with a single shot. Kyo reached out and grabbed the guy's hand, crushing it in his own. The man screamed, then his body burst sending a spray of blood over both Jamie and Kyo.

Then suddenly, the firing had ceased and it was eerily quiet. Jamie was speechless and clinging to Kyo for dear life. She found comfort that he held her back just as tightly. She laid her head against his shoulder.
"You alright?" He asked.
"Yes," she whispered back.
"Good, let's get the hell out of here," Kyo carried Jamie back up above the cloud of smoke where Dong Wan floated, waiting.
He had never been so happy to see Kyo in his life, though more it was Jamie he was happy to see. He noticed Jamie and Kyo both were completely soaked with blood. He did not have long to savor the moment though.
"Quickly, this way!" Kyo ordered and Dong Wan followed. They flew maybe 100 feet before a man caught up to them, he hardly had time to get even a glance at them before he let out an agonizing scream and flew, crashing downward. Yuki hid her face, Jamie already had hers pressed to Kyo's shoulder, her eyes closed tightly.

It was quiet and no one dared to speak. They began descending and landed in a large empty field.
Kyo looked around, "I think we're alone. Come on," he said then glided off into a nearby forest. Dong Wan followed, still holding Yuki.
Kyo went so fast Dong Wan could hardly keep up and the path twisted so much that he soon didn't know what direction they were going in or had even come from.
Kyo stopped so abruptly that Dong Wan nearly ran into him, they were facing a huge old house.
"We're here, everyone get inside," Kyo told them.

Once inside Kyo turned to Yuki as Dong Wan was setting her down, "Are you up to casting a barrier?"
Yuki nodded.
"Come with me then. Dong Wan, you stay here and sit down, you look like hell. Jamie keep an eye on him," Kyo said, then he and Yuki headed back outside.
Dong Wan ran over and threw his arms around Jamie, he couldn't speak as tears rolled down his cheeks.
"I was so scared that I'd never get to see you again, or hold you in my arms," he whispered, fighting back tears.
Jamie had been pissed off at him about Yuki but it completely left her mind now as she cried just as hard, "Dong Wan, I'm sorry. This is all my fault... If I had just stayed by the carriage..."
"No, it's better that we found out that they were after us now. We never would have seen it coming and if they had had time to prepare...." Dong Wan didn't even want to think of how things could have ended up.
"I hope Brian is ok," Jamie sniffled. "And Rosemarie and Min Woo! Oh no, you don't think that-"
"No, I think they're fine. They're so far away and this wasn't a planned thing so they're probably not looking for them. Besides, Min Woo isn't stupid, he can get himself out of almost anything," Dong Wan tried to reassure her.
Jamie still looked worried though.
