The next night, after another hour of intense and passionate love, Rosemarie was lying by Min Woo’s side wondering how much longer she and Jamie would be able to stay at the castle. It was true that neither of them had jobs or anyplace to go, but still it did seem they would eventually have to leave.
Min Woo noticed the concerned look on Rosemarie’s face, "What are you thinking about? Is something wrong?"
"Hm? Oh, I don’t know, I was just thinking about how much longer we could stay here." (Rosemarie)
"You mean you’re leaving?" (Min Woo)
"Well, we can’t stay here forever." (Rosemarie)
"Why not? Don’t leave, I want you to stay here with me, or if you have to leave, let me come with you." (Min Woo)
"Min Woo, that’s so sweet. I’ll stay with you as long as I can." (Rosemarie)
"You promise?" (Min Woo)
"Yes, I promise." (Rosemarie)
"What about when you leave? Will you take me with you?" (Min Woo)
"Yes, I will," Rosemarie said and she and Min Woo kissed each other.

"Good evening," Min Woo said cheerfully as he and Rosemarie joined Jamie and Dong Wan in the dining hall. "Geez, what’s wrong Dong Wan? You don’t look very happy, considering Jamie’s no longer a virgin," Min Woo said.
Jamie blushed, "Oh god."
"Shut up Min Woo, and oh, what’s this?" Dong Wan asked as Min Woo and Rosemarie passed by him. "Rosemarie, you’re positively glowing this morning, and it’s no longer the glow of a virgin I see."
Rosemarie made a sharp little cry of shock then felt her face turn bright red.
"Wow Min Woo, impressive. 2 times already? And the second time was approximately 15 minutes ago?" (Dong Wan)
"Ah! Stop!" Rosemarie said, covering her face.
Min Woo laughed, "I’ll be right back. Dong Wan come with me, I wanna talk to you."
"Ok," Dong Wan said and he and Min Woo left the room.
Jamie grinned evilly at Rosemarie, "Twice?"
"You shut up! And I thought you weren’t even gonna do it! You actually let him?" (Rosemarie)
Now it was Jamie who was embarrassed, "Yes, I figured if I stay a virgin I’ll end up dead and have even less of a chance of getting my blood sucked."
Rosemarie rolled her eyes, "You’re still on that, huh?"
"Yes, yes I am. So, how was it?" (Jamie)
"There’s no words to describe it." (Rosemarie)
Jamie giggled, "Same here."
"Then you enjoyed yourself?" Rosemarie asked, a little surprised.
"Of course, I had no choice, he made me. And it was so good, I even forgot about wanting him to suck my blood, well, for a little while anyways," Jamie said starting to smile.
"Are you gonna do it again?" (Rosemarie)
"I don’t know. When we did it last night I told him it was only that one time so I wouldn’t be a virgin anymore. And when we woke up he wanted to do it again. It was really hard to resist." (Jamie)
"Why did you stop him then?" (Rosemarie)
"I really wanna have my blood sucked, just once, so the less times I have sex, the better." (Jamie)

Min Woo and Dong Wan tiptoed away from the door, and as soon as they were far enough away Min Woo burst out laughing, "No wonder you looked so unhappy, she wouldn’t give it to you when you woke up!"
"Shut up Min Woo." (Dong Wan)
"You know, I think you’re even crankier now than you were before you got any." (Min Woo)
"This is what you wanted to talk to me about?" Dong Wan asked, clearly annoyed.
"Well, a part of it. I wanted to see if you were still mad at me for last night." (Min Woo)
"No, I’m not." (Dong Wan)
"Listen, I didn’t mean to sound cold but I think-" (Min Woo)
"I know. I thought that myself at sometimes, I even suspected it while she was here. That she was only with me so I would suck her blood and turn her into a vampire. But I didn’t want to believe it, I still don’t. That the only girl I ever loved was just using me. I’m sorry I snapped at you Min Woo, I was just upset." (Dong Wan)
"No, It’s ok. I was worried about you, you’re ok now though, right?" (Min Woo)
"Yeah." (Dong Wan)
"Ok, good." (Min Woo)
"Min Woo?" (Dong Wan)
"Yes?" (Min Woo)
"I know I don’t say it much but thank you. And I didn’t say it before but thanks for being there when I needed you." (Dong Wan)
Min Woo smiled, knowing exactly what Dong Wan was referring to, "Sure, no problem. And while we’re thanking each other, I must thank you for our little talk last night. You know, the one about my pleasing Rosemarie? You were right, I’m DAMN good."
Dong Wan laughed and lightly punched him in the arm, "It runs in the family," Dong Wan joked and they continued on their way to get breakfast.

Once Min Woo and Dong Wan returned to the table everyone sat down and ate. The wind howled outside, and the rain poured down.
"Wow, it’s really bad out there," Min Woo said as the lights flickered.
"Yes, it’s strange, we don’t normally get such bad storms this time of the year." (Dong Wan)
"You know, Halloween is less than 2 days away. You think Murnau is gonna do something?" Min Woo suddenly blurted out. Everyone was silent.
"Well, I don’t know, but if he does it won’t matter, it will just be a waste of time," Dong Wan finally said.
"Hey, what’s that sound?" Jamie asked after another few minutes of silence. Min Woo, Dong Wan and Rosemarie looked at her.
"What sound?" (Dong Wan)
"That banging." (Jamie)
They all listened. "It’s probably just the wind," Dong Wan replied.
"No, it sounds like someone knocking or something." (Jamie)
"That’s impossible. Who would be out in a storm like this?" (Dong Wan)
"No wait, I think she’s right. Listen Dong Wan, it does sound like knocking," Min Woo said.
Again they all heard the strange noise. "Let’s go see what it is," Jamie suggested.
"If anyone’s going it will be me," Dong Wan said and got up.
Jamie also stood up, "I’m coming too."
Dong Wan was going to protest but decided it would just be easier to let her come. They walked down the long corridor toward the sound. They finally stopped at the front door, and Dong Wan realized Jamie had been right, it was knocking. He drew his teeth in, then quickly went to the door. He cautiously opened it and came face to face with 3 travelers, a man and 2 women.
"Please sir, may we come in?" One of the women asked.
Dong Wan stepped aside and opened the door wider, "Yes, come in, come in."
They came in and Dong Wan closed the door behind them. They were soaked from the rain. One of the 2 women walked forward, extending her hand to Dong Wan, "Hello, I’m Valencia, and this is my brother Max, and his wife, Lisette."
"I’m Dong Wan, it’s nice to meet you all," he said as he shook her hand.
"It’s nice to meet you too," Lisette said, and Max nodded in agreement.
"I hate to ask but, do you have someplace we could stay for the night, or at least until the storm lets up?" Valencia asked.
"Of course, it would be no trouble at all. Do you have any extra clothes with you?" (Dong Wan)
"Yes, out in the carriage." (Valencia)
"Shall I go get them?" (Max)
"Yes, after all, you can’t spend the night in wet clothes." (Dong Wan)
"Thank you, you are so very kind," Valencia said gently placing her hand on Dong Wan’s arm.
Dong Wan smiled winningly, "Don’t mention it."
Jamie felt her skin crawl, she cleared her throat as loudly as she could. Dong Wan turned and looked, so did Valencia.
"Oh, Valencia, this is Jamie. Jamie, this is Valencia." (Dong Wan)
"It’s lovely to meet you," Jamie said with a forced smile.
"Oh hello, I did not see you there, how rude of me, it’s nice to meet you too," Valencia said holding her hand out Jamie. Jamie took it, obviously displeased.
"Jamie, go tell Min Woo and Rosemarie we have company," Dong Wan said.
Jamie wrinkled up her face with disgust and briskly walked back to the dining hall.

Dong Wan talked to Valencia and Lisette. Valencia did most of the talking. She explained how they were on their way to visit relatives in the countryside but had gotten a late start in the day, then ran into the storm. As Valencia explained, Min Woo, Rosemarie and Jamie all came in and Dong Wan introduced everyone. Max came in right after with the luggage, and after he too was introduced, Dong Wan led them upstairs.
As they entered the first room, a thought suddenly came into Min Woo’s head, "Hey, um no one take this the wrong way but, are either of you 2 girls virgins?"
Valencia and Lisette looked shocked.
Max looked angry, "What? How dare you?!"
"No wait, I didn’t mean anything by it. You see, there’s this really evil guy and he’s planning to perform a virgin sacrifice on Halloween. And as of now, he has no virgins, so if he comes here he might try to kidnap you," Min Woo explained.
"Is this true?" (Max)
"Yes," Dong Wan said solemnly.
"Then this could be a problem," Max said looking at Valencia.
"What shall I do?" (Valencia)
"There’s only one way to protect yourself. You must lose your virginity." (Min Woo)
"But how? I mean, is it really that dangerous that I must lose it now?" (Valencia)
"Yes, I’m afraid so. And we better think of something quick or else all our efforts will be wasted." (Min Woo)
"I do hate to ask but, would either of you 2, please, help me?" Valencia asked shyly.
"Oh, I’m sorry but I can’t," Min Woo answered very quickly.
Valencia looked at Dong Wan, giving him a flirty smile, "What about you?"
Jamie clenched her fists tightly at her sides, "Why don’t you just sleep with him?" Jamie asked, referring to Max.
"Jamie! That’s her brother!" Dong Wan said in a scolding tone.
"Oh, you 2 are together?" Valencia asked apologetically.
"No, not exactly," Dong Wan said giving Jamie a confused look, "Um, would you excuse us for a second?" Dong Wan said and took Jamie by the hand, pulling her out into the hallway behind him. He closed the bedroom door and looked at her, "What’s wrong with you?"
"I don’t like her." (Jamie)
"Are you jealous?" Dong Wan teased.
"No, I just don’t like her." (Jamie)
"Then, I can sleep with her." (Dong Wan)
"No." (Jamie)
Dong Wan started laughing, "Why not? You’re not ever gonna sleep with me again. You already told me you had no interest in me and only wanted me to do it once so you wouldn’t be a virgin. It was only for your safety, nothing else. Wasn’t it?" (Dong Wan)
"I hate you! Go ahead! Sleep with her! See if I care!" Jamie shouted then stormed down the hall to Dong Wan’s room and slammed the door shut behind her.
Dong Wan sighed then went back into the room with Rosemarie, Min Woo, Lisette, Valencia and Max.
"Sorry about that. Um, you 2 will share a room right?" Dong Wan asked Lisette and Max.
"Yes." (Max)
"Ok then. I’m not sure where to put you Valencia, I think I’ll put you in the room between mine and this one. You should be alright, and if anything does happen I’ll be right next door." (Dong Wan)
"Thank you, you really are too kind, and I’m sorry if I caused any trouble." (Valencia)
"No, don’t worry about her, everything’s fine. Let me show you to your room." (Dong Wan)
Dong Wan, Valencia, Rosemarie and Min Woo all left Lisette and Max alone. Rosemarie and Min Woo went downstairs , and Dong Wan proceeded to show Valencia her room. After he got her settled in, he went to his room to talk to Jamie. He knew she was upset and he felt bad. Even though he didn’t think he should, he felt partly responsible. He didn’t want her to be unhappy. Also he wanted to further discuss what had happened between them so far.

He was a little startled when he walked in and did not see her, but then he noticed the window was open. He walked over and looked out. Sure enough she was standing outside, underneath the edge of the roof. He came out onto the balcony and went over to her. She did not face him, she stayed where she was and continued to watch the rain pour down in front of her.
"Jamie." (Dong Wan)
She did not respond.
"Ja-" (Dong Wan)
"What?" She said in a less than pleasant tone.
"Are you mad at me?" Dong Wan asked then waited for a response. "I’ll take that as a yes," he said when he didn’t get one. "Ok, what did I do?"
"How can you even ask me that? Totally ignoring me since she’s gotten here and trying to make her happy and everything perfect for her? Then saying you’re gonna sleep with her?! Should I go on?" (Jamie)
"What do you mean ignoring you?" (Dong Wan)
"I stood there for almost 10 minutes when they first arrived and watched her shamelessly throw herself at you! You completely forgot I was there! Then when you remembered I was, you sent me away, ‘Oh go tell Min Woo and Rosemarie we have company’," She said, mimicking his voice.
"What? You’re crazy, I just didn’t want Min Woo to come running in with his fangs out and blood smeared all around his mouth. Most people don’t usually have a good reaction to that kind of thing." (Dong Wan)
"Even so, you didn’t have to be so mean about it." (Jamie)
"Ok, then I’m sorry. Are you better now?" (Dong Wan)
"No, you want to sleep with her! You’re a whore and you’ll have sex with anyone who will let you! How could you say you’re gonna sleep with her, after you just slept with me?" Jamie asked in a nasty tone.
"I, I didn’t think you’d care. And what do you mean I’m a whore?" (Dong wan)
"You are, anyone who can so quickly change sexual partners is a whore!" (Jamie)
"Sexual partners? Now we’re sexual partners? If I had known that I never would have given even one thought to being with her." (Dong Wan)
"We’re not sexual partners." (Jamie)
"So then what’s the problem?" (Dong Wan)
"What we did meant nothing to you?!" (Jamie)
"Of course it did. You were the one who said it meant nothing, saying it was only going to be the one time so you weren’t a virgin anymore, and then telling me not to worry about your pleasure. If I was just gonna use you I would have done what you told me to and not cared how it felt for you." (Dong Wan)
"So why did you say you were gonna sleep with her then?" Jamie asked, sounding hurt.
"I was just seeing what you would say. I wouldn’t really have slept with her." (Dong Wan)
"You don’t mean that," Jamie said, carefully studying his face.
"No, I wouldn’t. I kinda don’t trust her either. She’s a slut." (Dong Wan)
"What do you mean she’s a slut?" (Jamie)
"She isn’t a virgin, I got close enough to tell. Before AND after she said she was." (Dong Wan)
"Then, why did she say she was?" (Jamie)
"I don’t know. Maybe she didn’t want her brother to know since he seemed to think she still was. Or maybe she wants to sleep with me or Min Woo. I’m not sure about that, but I am sure she’s not a virgin." (Dong Wan)
"So you knew about this, that she said she was a virgin and wasn’t, when we went into the hall and you told me you wanted to sleep with her?" (Jamie)
"I never said I wanted to sleep with her, I just said I could." (Dong Wan)
"Would you sleep with her?" (Jamie)
"No, I’m not stupid." (Dong Wan)
"Now what does that mean?" (Jamie)
"I can only imagine what you’d do if I slept with her. Look how you’re acting after I only said ‘I COULD sleep with her’." (Dong Wan)
"What if I told you, ‘I don’t care, go ahead and sleep with her’? You know, I’m never doing anything with you again, and you don’t know how long it’s gonna be ‘til another girl comes to your castle. I think you should do it. Go on, enjoy yourself." (Jamie)
"No. Still not gonna do it." (Dong Wan)
"Why?" (Jamie)
"Cuz you don’t mean that." (Dong Wan)
"What if I did?" (Jamie)
"You don’t, so let’s stop talking about it. Are you still mad at me?" (Dong Wan)
"No," she said, turning away from him.
"Something’s still wrong, tell me what it is." (Dong Wan)
"It’s nothing. Everything’s fine." (Jamie)
"Come back inside." (Dong Wan)
"No, I wanna stay here for awhile." (Jamie)
"It’s cold and raining, at least go get a jacket." (Dong Wan)
"No, I’m ok. I’m under the roof, it’s not like I’m standing in it. Just go in and don’t worry about me." (Jamie)
Dong Wan watched her for a few seconds then sighed and went back into his room. As soon as Jamie heard him walk away she felt herself start to cry. She wiped her tears away but they only came back stronger. She buried her face in her hands and started sobbing.
After a few moments she felt someone’s arms slide around her body, she lifted her head and turned to see Dong Wan as he wrapped her in a blanket.
"Don’t cry Jamie. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I didn’t know it meant anything to you. If I knew I never would have said it." (Dong Wan)
Jamie cried harder and reached out for him. He took her in his arms and held her, trying to calm her.
