Chapter 5_____
"How are you feeling?" Min Woo asked Rosemarie. They had already arrived in the city and checked
into a hotel. They were now walking up the steps to the doctor's office. "Pretty sick," she admitted. She had been so distracted
by the sights of the city that she had nearly forgotten why they were even there. They were surrounded by every type of creature
she had ever imagined and some she had not. "Oh honey, it'll be ok. I'll go in with you and hold your hand," Min Woo said. Rosemarie
giggled, "Ok, thank you," she said and kissed him on the cheek. They entered and checked in and it was not long before
they were brought into an examining room. The doctor asked Rosemarie her symptoms and Min Woo sat there holding her hand,
just as he said he would. The doctor ran a few tests then left the room to develop the results. Min Woo and Rosemarie talked
as they waited. "You know, it's already November 3rd. Dong Wan's birthday is in less than three weeks, I was thinking of
having a really big party for him since it's his 300th-" (Min Woo) "WHAT?! What day did you say it was?" Rosemarie cried. "Uh,
November 3rd..." Min Woo looked at her uncertainly. "It's Jamie's birthday! Oh I forgot to tell her before we left and
now we won't make it back in time," Rosemarie said sadly. "Shh, it's ok. Let's get her a present in the city tomorrow before
we head back, ok?" (Min Woo) "Ok," Rosemarie said and before either of them could say anything else the doctor walked in. "Well,
I have your results and it's just as I suspected..." (Doctor) **************
Neither Kyo nor Jamie had spoken in
quite awhile as they walked on. Jamie's thoughts had begun to wander. She wondered what Dong Wan was doing and if he had
noticed her missing yet. She also thought of how tense things had been since Halloween. He hadn't been himself lately and
it was putting her on edge too, all they seemed to do anymore was fight. Kyo had also been lost in thought. This night
had gone nothing like he planned, he wasn't exactly disappointed though. He glanced over at Jamie and noticed she looked troubled. "Don't
think about him." (Kyo) Jamie jumped, "What?" "Stop thinking about him, it's making you miserable." (Kyo) "How do
you know what I'm thinking? Can you read minds too?" Jamie said sarcastically. Kyo smirked.
He moved nearer to
her, she backed up as far as she could until she was pressed against a tree. Kyo leaned in so close that she could feel his
breath, he stared directly into her eyes. "W, what are you doing?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper. His eyes
were so dark that the iris and pupil were indistinguishable. They were mesmerizing and so intense that she felt completely
exposed and naked before him. "You want to know how I can tell what you're thinking?" He whispered back in a voice that
sent chills running through her body. She nodded, unable to speak. "Your eyes, they give you away everytime." (Kyo) She
stood paralyzed, her heart pounding in her chest. She tried desperately to break eye contact with him but it was impossible.
It felt like he had somehow entered her mind and was extracting all the things she kept hidden, her darkest desires. At first
she thought what she saw in his eyes was what was in his mind, then she realized it was her own thoughts reflected.
He remained cold, emotionless. The only thing she could tell was he wanted more, he wanted to probe deeper. "Nervous?"
He smiled, moving even closer. She whimpered, his body was now pressed against hers. "What are you going to do?" She managed
to get out. "Whatever you want me to do," he grinned wickedly. Jamie blushed and tried even harder to break eye contact
but failed. She hoped against everything that he hadn't noticed what just flashed through her mind, though she knew he had. "Stop
this, leave me alone," she said as forcefully as she could. "It's funny how you think one thing, yet say something completely
different," he teased, the smile never left his lips. Jamie was filled with rage now, but he easily saw past it; Deep into
the shadows of her mind, the further he went the more he wanted to see. All of her thoughts, memories, fears and desires flooded
into his head and soon he could no longer even sense his body.
Things flickered through Jamie's mind that she had
not thought of in years, things she had forgotten had ever happened. The world around her had vanished, her eyes were open
but she could not see; She could only feel, Kyo was still pressed against her. Everything went black and then she saw it,
a vision of a beautiful young girl. She smiled then faded out of sight. The next scene she saw was the girl standing in front
of Dong Wan. It was not Dong Wan as she had ever seen him before though, he was much younger and there was something cruel
about him. Jamie felt sorrow wash over her as the scene faded to black. Kyo realizing what was happening tried to break
away from her but was unable to. He had gone too far and she had found her way into his memories. Jamie heard a string
of voices, so woven together it was impossible to separate them and make sense of them. Then, cutting clear through everything
she heard a tormented voice screaming one word over and over: Ambria. Pain tore through her, worse than anything she had ever
felt before; The person she had loved most was gone, completely gone...
Then there was silence. The world rushed back
into focus and she was standing, facing Kyo. His hands were wrapped around her neck and she was sure he was going to kill
her. She gently closed her eyes, unable to take her last breath as he was already cutting off her circulation. Suddenly
he relaxed his grip, releasing her and she gasped for air. She opened her eyes, his back was to her. Kyo's muscles tensed
as he shifted his stance, just as he was about to take flight he felt her fingers tighten around his wrist. "Wait..." Jamie
said softly. Kyo stayed still but would not turn to look at her, "Let go." "You can't leave me here... I don't know
how to get back to town and... it can't be safe out here alone," Jamie said pleadingly. "You're safer out here alone than
you are with me," Kyo said coldly. "How?" (Jamie) "I don't want to hurt you, so just let go of me," Kyo said sounding
more upset than actually threatening. Jamie thought it was strange that he did not just pull away from her when she was
not holding him that tightly and she knew he was far stronger than she was, "You won't hurt me." Kyo had been avoiding
looking at her but he just had to now, "How do you know?" He studied her eyes, trying to keep his own as detached and emotionless
as possible. "I just know that you won't...." Jamie said quietly, lowering her gaze. His eyes were as blank as they had
ever been before but she could still feel the pain. She couldn't stand it and a tear rolled down her cheek. "What the hell
are you doing?" Kyo asked as Jamie threw her arms around him and pressed her face into his shoulder. He was completely stunned,
he stood awkwardly trying not to touch her. "Get off of me," he growled but she did not budge. Kyo exhaled deeply, "Fine,
I won't leave you alone out here but we need to go." Jamie still did not loosen her hold on him and so he placed an arm
around her then lifted her face away from his shoulder so he could look at her. He could see plainly that she wanted to
comfort him, the pain and sorrow on her face, he couldn't stand it. "Kyo," she said softly, her eyes wet with tears. He
placed the tips of his fingers to her forehead and commanded her gently, "Sleep." Her eyelids fluttered shut and she went
limp in his arms. He lifted her carefully and began gliding back in the direction they had come from. ***************

"What?!" Min Woo cried, jumping up from his seat. "Pregnant?! This is great! I'm gonna be a father!!" Min Woo jumped around
the room excitedly. Rosemarie began laughing. "The dizziness should pass soon on its own. And for the nausea, try
this," the doctor said scribbling something down on a piece of paper then handing it to Rosemarie. "There's a little shop
on the corner of this block, they carry it. It's an all-natural herb you can soak in hot water then strain out the leaves
and drink the liquid. Sort of like tea. It's perfectly safe for you and the child, and the taste is not bad either." "Thank
you doctor," Rosemarie beamed. "Yes! Thank you," Min Woo ran over and shook the doctor's hand; He was still quite excited. The
doctor chuckled, "You're welcome and congratulations."
Rosemarie and Min Woo checked out then headed over to the shop.
They asked the clerk in the shop about the herbs and she went to retrieve them. "We should go out to dinner and celebrate.
Do you feel up to it?" Min Woo asked Rosemarie as they waited for the clerk to return. "Yes, I think I'll be fine," she
smiled. Min Woo leaned over and kissed her on the cheek, "After that we can go shopping for baby clothes!" Rosemarie
laughed, "We don't even know if it's a boy or a girl yet." "Oh yeah," Min Woo grinned sheepishly. "Ok well, maybe we'll
just go back to the hotel then. You need your rest too." "Ok," Rosemarie giggled. After purchasing the herbs, Rosemarie
and Min Woo went to a restaurant a few blocks away from the hotel. **************
Kyo laid Jamie down delicately on the bench nearest the carriage where he had met her earlier that night. He woke her
from her sleep and quickly flew up onto a nearby roof and out of her sight. Jamie opened her eyes groggily and looked around
her. Seeing where she was she quickly snapped out of her daze and called for Kyo. She had no idea where he was and couldn't
believe he had just left her there, though at least he had returned her. She sighed heavily then stood up to stretch, wondering
if she should go search for Dong Wan. Kyo watched her a little longer from atop the roof. He hadn't answered her calls
because it was just easier that way; He didn't have time to waste on her anymore, or at least that was what he told himself.
She was awake and safe though, so he could leave with a clear conscience and never have to lay eyes on her again. Yet
something about her intrigued him and he could not stop watching her... Finally he managed to stop himself and fly off
in the direction of the local bar.
Jamie walked over to the restaurant where Dong Wan and Yuki had gone, she had decided
to look for him after all. She asked the woman at the front desk if she had seen them but the woman told her they'd already
left. Jamie made her way back out onto the street and began walking. She knew Dong Wan was probably looking for her and
she was sure he was not happy. She did not know how she was going to explain her absence. She decided she would just say she
went for a walk and not give all the details; Technically she wouldn't be lying.
She suddenly realized that the streets
were deserted and that she was in a part of the town she had not seen before. It was very dark and looked abandoned. Up ahead
she heard a noise and went to investigate; Peering around the corner of a nearby building she could see 2 men standing in
the alley, talking.
"I have no doubt that you will be the one chosen to lead the dark army and take over his majesty's
mission. Murnau could not do it, even after hundreds of years, he failed," the shorter of the 2 men said. "Thank you,
Tae Hyung. It is a shame that one as powerful as Murnau should waste the gifts given to him by our great lord, he could have
done many great things but that is in the past. Now it is my turn. And once I have the power given by Lucifer himself I shall
see to it that those who interfered are greatly punished," the taller man said. Jamie gasped and tried to duck out of the
alley but ended up stumbling and falling to the ground. "Who's there?!" The taller man shouted, he and Tae Hyung rushed
over. Jamie looked up at them, "Uh.... hi?" She smiled weakly. "Who are you?" The taller of the 2 asked. "Keiran,
wait. There's something strangely familiar about this girl..." Tae Hyung said, studying her. "It's her! Murnau's niece!" "What?"
Keiran said looking slowly at Jamie. "Are you sure?" "Yes, absolutely! I met her once, he sent me to see if it was worth
dispatching the army to retrieve her but she was already spoiled by then." (Tae Hyung) "Ah, this is too perfect. Girl,
what is your name?" Keiran demanded. Jamie stared at him blankly, then spoke very slowly with a southern drawal, "Mah name
is Emma Jean, how d'yuh do?" Keiran glanced over at Tae Hyung then back at Jamie, "Emma Jean? I thought it was something
else." "It was... But I swear she was the same girl... no, I know she is!" Tae Hyung insisted. "Don't play games with
me girl," Keiran grabbed Jamie by the collar of her shirt and pulled her to her feet. "Suh, that ain't no way to treat
a lady!" Jamie cried in her fake accent and pulled away from him. "Ah don't rightly know who you think ah am but yuh mistaken.
Ah reckon y'all better git a move on 'fore mah beau comes." "There you are! Where have you been?" Dong Wan's voice from
behind Jamie. She spun around, "Oh Clayton! Ah been lookin' for yuh all naht, let's git outta heah," she said starting
towards Dong Wan. Dong Wan looked at her like she was insane, "Uh Jamie, what's going on?" He asked, eyeing her then the
2 men behind her. "Jamie! That's her name! It is her!" Tae Hyung yelled triumphantly. Jamie swore angrily. "Dong Wan
you idiot!" "Him too! He was one of the ones that was responsible for Murnau's death, what luck!" Tae Hyung said excitedly.
"What about her?" Keiran gestured towards Yuki. "No, she works at the bookstore, she's a priestess... We could kill
her too though, for fun," Tae Hyung suggested. Keiran laughed, "Yes, you can have her and do what you like with her....
as for you 2," Keiran addressed Jamie and Dong Wan, "I won't kill you, yet." Tae Hyung looked at him questioningly. "They
killed Murnau after all, and though they interfered with his majesty's plans they did give me the opportunity to take over.
So, here is my offer to you, join me." "And if we don't?" Jamie asked, now speaking normally. "Where's that pretty little
accent?" Keiran laughed. "And, if you don't you will suffer greatly until your deaths." Yuki and Dong Wan looked at each
other. "Well, while you are deciding what to do I think I'll just take what's mine," Tae Hyung said, stepping toward Yuki. "Don't
even think about it," Dong Wan growled, pushing Jamie and Yuki behind him. Tae Hyung glared viciously for about a second
then dove at Dong Wan. Jamie and Yuki both screamed as the 2 of them wrestled on the ground. Keiran now had a chance and
he took it, rushing forward he grabbed a hold of Jamie but Yuki quickly summoned a blast of white light that sent him skidding
backwards through the alley. Dong Wan and Tae Hyung continued to fight as Yuki tried to hold off Keiran. Keiran was not
about to waste his good fortune and miss out taking down 2 of his enemies in one shot and so as he blocked the swirling blasts
of white light shot at him by Yuki, he let out a terrible howl. Within a matter of minutes, 7 more men had appeared in
the alley and Dong Wan, Yuki and Jamie were completely surrounded. ****************
